Feng Ju Palace
Illusion ride with rotating perspective in an Asian palace setting.
Feng Ju Palace – Mad House in the China Town themed area
Feng Ju Palace is a rotating illusion ride (Mad House) in the Phantasialand amusement park, located in the China Town themed area. The attraction combines moving seating platforms with a rotating room structure to create an optical illusion that deliberately challenges the orientation of the guests.
The scenario is based on a fictional story about the conflict between good and evil, set in an Asian-themed environment. Before the actual ride, visitors experience a themed waiting area with a narrative introduction. Afterwards, they take a seat in a rotating gondola while the entire room around them appears to move.
Feng Ju Palace is aimed at a broad audience, including families with older children. The attraction does not include fast movements or frightening moments but can be disorienting due to the illusion of spatial instability.
The design is inspired by Chinese architecture and mythology. The ride is fully indoors and therefore weather-independent. Special features include the combined rotation of the room and platform as well as the narratively embedded staging.
