Inverted coaster through gorges, tunnels, and rocks in Deep in Africa.

Black Mamba – Inverted Coaster in the Deep in Africa themed area

Black Mamba is an inverted roller coaster in the Phantasialand amusement park and is located in the elaborately designed Deep in Africa themed area. The ride is manufactured by Bolliger & Mabillard and belongs to the inverted coaster type, where the tracks run above the seats and the legs hang freely.

The track is approximately 768 meters long, reaches a maximum speed of about 80 km/h, and features four inversions, including a loop, zero-g roll, and corkscrew. The first drop is about 26 meters high. The ride mostly runs close to the ground, through narrow gorges, tunnels, and artificial rock formations, which further enhances the sensation of speed.

The theming incorporates African motifs and is fully embedded in a jungle-like environment. Architecture, vegetation, and sound design are tailored to the attraction's storytelling world. The coaster runs partially indoors as well as under bridges and pathways, making it hardly fully visible to outsiders.
