The Amazonas Park on Crete is a small, family-friendly zoo near Neapoli in the east of the island. It is dedicated to the protection and care of rare animal species, having been established in 2011. Visitors can experience exotic parrots, monkeys, and lemurs up close – some can even be fed.
Meeting the lemurs, who curiously climb onto guests' shoulders while being fed, is definitely a highlight of the park and popular with many visitors. The park offers a relaxed atmosphere away from mass tourism, with a beautiful view over the island combined with educational insights into animal conservation and biodiversity.
